  • What is Shravanabelagola famous for?
    One of the most-visited Jain pilgrimage spots in South India, Shravanabelagola is a popular weekend getaway from Bengaluru. It is famous for a massive 57-ft high statue of Bahubali, which is the world's tallest monolithic stone statue carved out of a single granite block.
  • Shravanabelagola is home to the 18 m high statue of Lord Gometeshwara; considered to be one of the world's tallest free-standing monolithic statues. Constructed in 981 AD by Chamundaraya, a Ganga warrior, it is carved out of a single block of granite and looms on the top of Vindhyagiri Hill.
  • The best time to visit is just after the monsoons, between August and February, when the river is alive and the forest is thick and verdant. This is the best time for birdwatching as well – river terns, fishing eagles, wood peckers, kingfishers and other water birds flock here.
  • One cannot play in water due to crocodiles though. The lush forest around the place is very soothing. we spotted fox and wild boar.
  • Bheemeshwari is just 100km from Bangalore, located on the banks of river Cauvery. The drive is a mix of fast-track driving through NICE Road and normal pacing through Kanakpura-Halagur Road. Alternately, you can reach here via Bangalore-Mysore Road.
  • The town is famous for a very ancient temple dedicated to Sri Ranganathaswamy, a form of Lord Vishnu. There is also Kalyani Siddhi Vinayaka Temple in front of the Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple.
  • "Sangama" is the confluence of 3 holy rivers Kaveri River, Lokapavani River & Hemavati River. It is in Srirangapatna, Mandya.
